If your'e out and about this Saturday (10/30/21) between the hours of 9:00 AM and 12:00 Noon in the Leetsdale area we will be having one of our "Fill the boot fund drives". We will be collecting donations at the intersection of Beaver Street and Village drive.
In recognition of breast cancer awareness month in October, we have pictured our old American LaFrance engine. The engine was purchased by an individual, refurbished and painted oink. The purchaser wanted to make sure everyone was aware of breast cancer awareness.
With tomorrow being the 20th anniversary of one of the worst tragedies on America soil. Please take a moment to reflect on this day and what it did to our country. Also, please remember all that perished due to this horrible atrocity.

A word to all motorists. With the weather forecasters saying that we are going to see the remnants of hurricane Ida here in the Pittsburgh area Tuesday night and Wednesday. It is supposed to bring with a lot of rain and possibly high wind.
Several weeks ago in the early hours of the morning, Leetsdale VFD as well as it's mutual aid departments for a structure fire were dispatched. The call came in as a structure fire. When the police arrived on scene the reported the front of the house as well as a car were fully involved.
Does your department sanitize your equipment, tools and apparatus. We do after every run. We also have an air scrubber in the firehouse to keep the air clean as well.
Early in the morning was the first call and they continued throughout the the day. Leetsdale VFD had six requests for service. 5 of the calls were fire related and 1 QRS (medical) call). This brings the total number of calls for August 2020 to 36.
I am a perfect example of the statement there's more to to when joining a volunteer fire department. I was active for almost 41 years and my body just can't take the requirements that a firefighter needs.

On Monday night Leetsdale firefighters worked on hose packing, hose evolutions, pumping, water flow and an SCBA review (face mask). There's a few pictures posted below.
On Sunday, August 16, 2020 Jeff Neff and some friends put on a picnic a Walker Park to show their appreciation for our first responders. The event was very well attended and the weather was beatiful. Leetsdale VFD was represented by President Jim Ivancic and Treasurer Jon Biteler.
Pictured on the left is Leetsdale firefighter Bill Crago. Bill is being presented with a case of AA batteries from Duracell. A lot of our equipment utilize AA batteries so this donation will go a long way in saving us money.
