With October being fire prevention month firefighter Shirley Logan, Assistant Chief Ernie Logan, Captain Wes James and Officer Terry Gentzel from the Leetsdale police department stopped by the Leetsdale High Rise Monday night to go over some fire prevention tips with the residents.
With the cold weather right around the corner, everyone will be turning on their furnace. Make sure you have your furnace serviced yearly to locate and repair any defects. A defective furnace can put carbon monoxide into your house.
On Friday, October 4, 2019 at 3:31 PM Leetsdale firefighters were requested to assist Sewickley firefighters to assist searching for a missing person along the banks of the Ohio River. Several boats from neighboring departments were also requested.
We are still looking for people that want to help their community. We don't need just interior firefighters. We need exterior firefighters, people for fire ground support, people to direct traffic when needed, citizens that are interested in helping us do fund drives and the list goes on.
On Thursday, October 3, 2019 at 7:25 PM. Leetsdale, Fair Oaks and Sewickley VFD's were dispatched for a residential fire alarm on Kenney Drive in Leet Twp. Fair Oaks Chief arrived on the scene to discover that a pizza had been over cooked in the oven and the smoke from that set off the detector....
In Leetsdale Borough at approximately 5:00 AM on Saturday, September 5, 2019 there was some type of explosion at Hussey Copper. The incident injured/burned 4 victims with the most serious one being transported to West Penn hospitals burn unit via ambulance.

At 9:38 AM on 8/29/2019 Leetsdale firefighters along with Sewickley, Aleppo Twp., Emsworth and Fair Oaks VFD's were dispatched for a bathroom exhaust fan on fire in Edgeworth on Maple Lane. Sewickley and Aleppo Twp.

On July 18, 2019 at 11:40 AM, Leetsdale and Fair Oaks VFD'S were dispatched for a single vehicle accident at Camp Meeting Road and Beaver Street with unknown injuries. When crews arrived they found a single vehicle into a concrete structure owned by the VFW.
Everyone knows to change the batteries in their smoke detectors twice a year. Once we we turn the clocks ahead and then when we turn them back for daylight savings time. Now you know the batteries are good, but does the detector actually work.
After all the rain that we have endured combined with the numerous times our area has been flooded, the Leetsdale firefighters decided to lend a hand to our local school district. Quaker Valley high schools lower parking lot was like a swamp with all the mud that remained after the flooding.
At 7:01 AM Thursday morning Leetsdale firefighters were dispatched for flooding conditions on Route 65 between Ferry Street and the Quaker Village Shopping Center as well as Rapp Street to the overpass going into the industrial park, both Northbound and Southbound.
At 6:51 AM on Sunday 7/7/2019 Leetsdale and Fair Oaks VFD’s were dispatched for a flooding condition on Ohio River Blvd. (Rte. 65) between the Quaker Valley High School near the football stadium and Quaker Village Shopping Center.
